The last few weeks have been tough and we’ve learned we need to come up with better ways to be transparent.
There is nothing more important to us than our customers.
So I’m working through this with our user community, our people internally and our business partners to find ways to be more transparent. We can do better and we will.
It starts with this promise to you.
You have a right to know that your data is being collected.
We will ensure that our terms and conditions are front and center, easy to read and understand. Your anonymous purchase data is used by the world’s leading brands, retailers, and technology companies to understand consumer trends in e-commerce.
You have a right to know what data is being collected.
We only collect data related to transactions—we do not analyze or store any personal emails, or share any of your personally-identifiable information with our clients. We absolutely do not share your emails with anyone. Ever.
You have a right to know how your data is being used.
Unroll.Me is part of Slice Technologies, which aggregates online shopping data by scanning for e-receipts. Receipt data is then used by Slice Intelligence, a market research firm to build anonymized market research products that analyze and track consumer trends.
This data does not contain personal information such as your name and email address and is used strictly to identify buying patterns that may be of interest to Slice Intelligence’s business clients. We don’t share individual receipts -- only information extracted from them. Our technology is designed to ignore personal emails, which we do not use to build our market research products, and we don’t share any of your personal information with our clients.
To see how Slice Intelligence uses this data, take a look at the Slice Intelligence blog.
You have a right to the security and anonymity of your data.
The security of our consumer data is not only important to you, it’s critical to our business. We apply the most rigorous security standards to our servers and databases, and separate all personally-identifiable information from the data we use for market research, so our clients can never match you to your purchases, nor can they get your email address or anything else about you.
You have a right to opt out at any time.
Deleting your Unroll.Me account is simple and instant, and our customer support team will always help if you encounter any difficulties.
You have a right to have your data destroyed when you leave the service.
When you delete your account, we delete your data. That has always been true, and will continue to be standard practice at Unroll.Me.
Update: To fulfill our legal document preservation obligations, we are temporarily preserving and quarantining the data of Unroll.Me users who delete their accounts. This data cannot be accessed or used for commercial purposes, and is stored securely. No personal information of Unroll.Me users who deleted their accounts will be disclosed unless required by a court order to do so.
